Moremoney for research would be very welcome certainly. I think the UK spends quite a low amount relative to other countries. Although money isn’t always the answer. At the moment research is being concentrated in fewer places which I think is wrong as it inhibits creativity. Also at the moment it is very difficult to get funding for research without an economic justification which also limits the ability to do novel research.

I think money is not the only thing needed. More money is of course neccessary and would speed up the finding of more cures. But also, a change in mentality is also neccessary. There are many diseases which don’t receive a lot of funding or no funding at all just because they are diseases that don’t affect a lot of people or just because they only affect the undeveloped countries and in my opinion that’s quite unfair. Cheers Anjalo!

      Hi Anjalo,

I think more money is an answer, but not THE answer to improving the rate of discovery of new drugs and making of new vaccines. We still have to take the time to discover things about the organisms themselves (which yes, takes money) and then go through the lengthy process of designing, testing and approving new ‘cures’ or treatments for human use. More money would certainly speed the process up considerably, but smart changes to how the existing system approves and regulates new treatments is also important to not just spend more money but spend it intelligently.

      Cheers,
      Carmen
