The research that I am involved in is very clinical and I work with a kidney transplant surgeon at a local hospital. Some of your work meant that there has been more kidneys made available for people waiting for a kidney transplant and some of our work is to try and show in the future we can make more kidneys and other organs available for transplantation.

My work focusses around identifying new ways that we could treat a condition called Crohn’s disease that currently has no cure. If we can find new treatments it would make the lives of people who suffer from the disease much better!

In my research I focus on Germinal Centres, which are B cell structures in the secondary lymphoid organs. Many of the lymphomas are germinal centre derived, that means that they are derived because of the malfunctioning of this structures. So I hope the better understanding of germinal centres eventually helps with the cure of these lymphomas.

Hi alex.a. Great question. I’m busy in the laboratory designing vaccines that one day could prevent people from potential intentional release of biological substances, also known as biological warfare. I believe vaccines are the way forward for controlling and preventing disease impact and spread, and that more research should be applied to designing vaccines!
