• Question: What diseases to animals get that people can get too?

      The really big one is bird flu which is potentially a big problem. People are worried that flu from birds will cause a major human epidemic at some point There are lots of bacteria and viruses that can move between species though.

      Loads! A few examples: herpes simplex viruses, hepatitis, influenza, tularensis, query fever…the list goes on and on. Many pathogens can cross the species barrier and infect say specific groups of mammals.
