homeostasis happens by cells talking to one another and changing the way the work accordingly. Cells produce signals, either proteins or homones that then travel to other cells. When the get to the other cells the bind to special proteins called receptors that are in the membranes surrounding the cells. When the signal molecules make contact with the receptors that sends a signal inside the cell which then provides instructions about how the cell should now work.
